| A special know-how
Bouffadous are pierced with a bit that is guided by the core part of the piece of wood that is softer than the rest of the wood.
Pine is used for the making of bouffadous for its easy piercing qualities. To make a bouffadou in a harder wood would be far more difficult if possible.
In the past, we used to put the pieces of pine wood outside during winter times. The outer part of the wood is rich in water and get frozen and harsher. The core part is poorer in water and doesnot get frozen making it easy to pierce it with a bit.
